Vocations

For more information: http://www.ma-vocation.com

Dear Catholics of Paris and the Parisian region, and also all of you who have come from the rest of France and from neighbouring countries, let me launch a call trusting in the faith and the generosity of young people who are asking themselves about a vocation to the priesthood or the religious life: do not be afraid!
Do not be afraid to give your life to Christ!
Nothing will ever replace the ministry of priests in the heart of the Church!
Nothing will ever replace a Mass for the Salvation of the world!

Benedict XVI in Paris on 13/09/2008 at the Invalides

God is calling today, just as Jesus called his apostles: he climbed up the mountain, he called to him those he wanted, and they came to him. (Mark 3: 13)

He called them to him: No one gives himself a vocation, but one discerns a call from God: It is not you who have chosen me; but I have chosen you and set you in this place, to that you will go and bear fruit, and you fruit will last. (John 15: 16)

those he wanted : God's freedom

They came to him: people are free to respond to his call.

To be called by God, to discern his call and to make oneself ready to respond, is an extremely joyful experience, but it is always clear that God acts delicately and discreetly. The year of priests can be a year of grace for you if you take the opportunities available.

The Emmanuel Community is offering a great variety of opportunities for you to meet the Lord, to discern his call and to go forward with a free response:

  • A silent Retreat in December 2009,
  • The Winter Forum in February 2010,
  • Retreat at Sinai in March 2010,
  • The Paschal Triduum in different places in April 2010,
  • Festival of priestly vocation in May 2010,
  • Retreat in Galilee in July 2010,
  • Youth Forum in August 2010.
All these meetings are organized with the forumdesjeune.com ; they include a specific time of discernment of the priestly vocation.

If you have already discerned a call from God, we suggest that through the year you participate in a cycle of discernment, while continuing your studies: the Cycle of the Curé of Ars for those who are over 18 years old and the Karl Leisner Course for the 16/17 year olds.
