Mystery of Expectation

Single people do not have the security which married life or a consecrated vocation can give. They experience a lack, an examination of which leads them to be witnesses to the expectation in which all Christians are called to live, whatever their state of life may be. Their only actual certainty - a certainty of faith, the desire for God never fully fulfilled here - is that they have to live for Christ, to say "yes" to him without reserve, to repeat it day after day, to aspire to this encounter with Him. In this way, the single people of the Community are all particularly witnesses of hope.

A radical testimony

Like all those who are committed to following Christ, the single people of the Community have to live chastity related to their situation of current life. In a hedonistic society, the acceptance of this lifestyle is both demanding and prophetic. All the members of the Community recognize the beauty of the testimony of the single people in this domain and commit themselves in their turn to support them particularly their state of life.

We have the following suggestions for you :

Opportunities of spiritual nourishment

- The meetings for singles in July during one of the general sessions each summer in Paray-le-Monial have been bringing together over a thousand singles since 2001, through conferences, round tables, times to meet and share about themes such as finding meaning in one’s life, how to live Christian celibacy, celibacy and fruitfulness, balance in life, how to know if it is "him" or "her", getting married at 40.
- Several weekends on specific themes are held every year at Ile Bouchard / Chezelles in France
- Prayer meetings take place in different community areas.

Formation to help you in your everyday life

- At the Parish of the Trinity in Paris, http://www.latriniteparis.com/Le-Centre-Trinite.html  , there is a special programme for singles.
- The Forum of Active Life in Paray le Monial is also recommended.

Time out to meet other single people

- Trips for singles organized by the parishes, led by the community

Aside from these regular activities, other initiatives are proposed in other local community contexts in France and elsewhere.
