The Saint Joseph’s year is : time spent with God, in which prayer life is essential. It’s a long conversation like this with the Lord that allows one to hear and answer his call.
The year is orientated
around two poles : formation (a human and spiritual base for Christian life)
and discernment.
The Saint Josephers vary :
some are students or just finishing their studies, others have taken a
sabbatical year in their career.
The
St. Joseph’s year gives special priority to human formation. The year is
full of community and fraternal life, on a daily basis ! The house is divided
into apartments or households (maisonnées) of from 6 to 8 young men.The
« maisonnée » or household is where it all begins : meals, chores
(cooking, cleaning, washing, groceries…). One of the members, who is attentive to unity and charity in
the group, is given the
responsibility of coordinating the “maisonnée”.
The house follows a rhythm
of prayer (praise and Evening prayer), daily Mass and Adoration :
neighbours are welcome to join in the times of prayer.
The staff is composed of
the vocations co-ordinator, another priest, a sister consecrated in celibate
life, and a married couple.
Today there are four
«St. Joseph’s houses" around the world : in Namur (Belgium), Abidjan (Ivory
Coast), Kinshasa (Congo), Kigali (Rwanda). |
