FIDESCO is an NGO of
international cooperation, which sends volunteers to the countries of the
Southern hemisphere to put their professional competence at the service of
development projects or humanitarian actions. Today there are 120 cooperators
who are working in about thirty countries !
The volunteers who go with
FIDESCO are young Catholics who desire to work for the poorest people in the
name of their faith, whence the name FIDES – CO, the Faith at the service of
Cooperation.
They put themselves at the
service of the local populations without distinction of religion, race or
culture.
FIDESCO most of the time does
not create its own projects, but puts itself at the service of local partners
who are already working for the good of the disadvantaged populations in very
different fields : education, agronomy, teaching, management, construction and
so on.
FIDESCO gives priority to
working with the Churches in the Southern hemisphere. They have a unique
experience of service to the poor and defending their rights.
FIDESCO is an NGO created by
the Emmanuel Community. It is a member of the South Coordination, of the
Voluntary-CLONG (Committee of Liaison of voluntary NGOs ) of the National
Council for Solidarity of the Church of France.
FIDESCO is a charity
association (according to Law 1901) assimilated to an association of public
utility.
